Introduction
This article is part of the series of Nico's Porsche Taycan Experience.
The key
Like in any modern car, the key of the Porsche Taycan communicates wireless with the car for opening and also that it is being present in the car.
Like any other key, the battery needs to be replaced, when it's empty.
Replacing the battery
However, unlike other cars, the Porsche Taycan has a weird quirk. When you replace the battery, go back to the car, the message you get in the car is "battery low, please replace battery".
The first though one has is, "Wait, what, did I just add the old battery again?" and "Ohh, did I throw away the new battery?".
So replacing the battery the first time makes you replace it at least twice, because when you go back to the car again, the messages persists.
So what happened? Did I buy a pack of (almost) empty batteries?
Delayed status update
No, the first replacement was already correct. The Porsche Taycan just needs a few days (!) until it recognises that the battery in the key has been replaced. This is one of the strangest experiences I had with a car, but that's how it is with the Porsche Taycan.
The various Porsche Centers confirmed that this is normal.
